It's About Time

Time borrowed, time wasted
Time ain't really ever on our side
Time heals us, time kills us
Waits for no one on an endless tide.
We can try to stop it
We can try to steal it
Take it slowly or rush on by.
I can't change it
You can't change it
All we can do is watch it fly.
Time bandit, time traveler
Myths and stories passed from age to age
Time ticking, time warping
All we can do is turn the page.
We can try to stop it
We can try to steal it
Take it slowly or rush on by.
I can't change it
You can't change it
All we can do is watch it fly.
Time borrowed, time wasted
Time ain't really ever on our side
Time heals us, time kills us
Waits for no one on an endless tide.

Another Day Wasted
05:33

There's a dark dusty table
An old clock keeping time
The walls are covered in paper
dated nineteen fifty nine
A broom leans in the corner
Cobwebs in the straw
And that rusty old mirror
It shows every flaw.
And the street lights they flicker
through the cracked window pane
And the glass right beside me
Can't hold half my shame
There ain't time to feel lonely
Ain't no time for feeling blue
It's another day wasted
Spent thinking of you.
I burned all my time waiting
for another man's life
I never learned how to care for
my own darling wife
For the evil I done
There's a price I must pay
Now I'm tortured by visions
The day she walked away
And the street lights they flicker
through the cracked window pane
And the glass right beside me
Can't hold half my shame
There ain't time to feel lonely
Ain't no time for feeling blue
It's another day wasted
Just thinking of you.
And I'm wetting my lips now,
oh for one final kiss
I'd give all my time left,
for one breath from your lips
But you left me in pieces,
and this bottles run dry
So I'll beg for forgiveness
But I'll settle for rye.
And the street lights they flicker
through the cracked window pane
And the glass right beside me
Can't hold half my shame
There ain't time to feel lonely
Ain't no time for feeling blue
It's another day wasted
Spent drinking to you.

Nothing But A Good Man

Some call him the Old Woodsman, carving down the names,
of the sons of perdition. They know they are to blame.
Some call him an Old Cowboy, riding cross the sky,
on a horse breathing fire, with a cold light in his eye.
Some call him the old trickster, the snake in the apple tree.
Spinning webs of honey-soaked lies bring a good man to his knees.
Some say he plays fiddle, and wants to cut a deal.
Trade your soul for a pot of gold, all that you can steal.
I’ve seen him more tun once before, I’ve stared into his eyes.
At times he’s got the best of me, I’ve told my share of lies.
He haunts me in my mirror, when the nights are cold and long.
The Devil ain’t nothing but a good man who know that he done wrong.
Some say he’s a dark prince, sitting on a throne.
Reigning over all the damned, gnawing on their bones.
Some say he’s the Lord of Flies, spreading his disease.
He’s the author of the book of lies, the fell voice in the breeze.
I’ve seen him more tun once before, I’ve stared into his eyes.
At times he’s got the best of me, I’ve told my share of lies.
He haunts me in my mirror, when the nights are cold and long.
The Devil ain’t nothing but a good man who know that he done wrong.

Small Town Blue

He had a two seam heater and a cutter too
Take your best swing son he'll make a fool out of you.
He was the king of the hill with a flat bill crown
A party boy lover, the toast of the town.
He had a girl named Allie she was second to none
Wore his heart on a chain, hair red like the sun
Now Sunday at the diner he's sitting alone.
She serves his breakfast with a face made of stone.
There ain't nowhere he can hide inside of this....small town.
Where each glance reminds him how he let them down.
It plays in endless repeats in his mind.
Feeling small town blue, wishing he could find... Some way to rewind.
His Mom was a nurse in the ICU.
She was there when he walked in tore up and bruised.
Best friend's on a gurney he ain't breathin' no more
I guess they took one too many bottles from that liquor store.
There ain't nowhere he can hide inside of this....small town.
Where each glance reminds him how he let them down.
It plays in endless repeats in his mind.
Feeling small town blue, wishing he could find... Some way to rewind.
One Sunday at the diner he didn't show up.
One egg less to fry and and one empty cup.
Two weeks went by before she sent the boys around.
They found him in his chair next to one spent round.
There ain't nowhere he can hide inside of this....small town.
Where each glance reminds him how he let them down.
It plays in endless repeats in his mind.
Feeling small town blue, wishing he could find... Some way to rewind.
